Loquat

10' - 12' height , ask about larger sizes  - Eriobotrya japonica

Loquat is a tropical looking tree from Japan. Hence, despite its tropical appearance it can be grown throughout Florida. It’s a small tree to about 20 feet with a dense spreading crown of dark green foliage. Its dense spreading crown gives it an umbrella-like form. It makes a wonderful small specimen tree or even an espalier, however it is often used in commercial landscapes as an upper level accent plant, understory tree, or sometimes as a dense evergreen screen particularly under power lines. The tree produces deep yellow to gold edible fruit, which contribute to its appearance, but also may be messy.

Loquat grows on a wide range of well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. It needs regular irrigation until established. In South Florida it thrives in partial shade.
