Lantana camara has numerous cultivars and varieties, all of which are covered with flowers when in bloom which is nearly year round. The plant is usually seen as a groundcover, but there are varieties that can be trained as a standard or can mound up as a shrub.
Lantana camara is naturalized throughout Florida. It is very drought and salt tolerant. Lack of water or salt spray has little effect on its ability to bloom. Indeed, too much water or fertilizer may cause a lack of blooms. Little maintenance is required except occasional pruning.
Birds and butterflies are attracted to the plant, but some varieties are considered invasive invasive weeds.
