Cabada Palm

List Price:  $240.00

8' - 10' height, 25 gallon pot  - Dypsis Cabadae

Cabada Palm is a clustering palm like its close relative the Areca Palm. However, unlike the Areca Palm, it never makes a dense clump and usually takes a few years to start suckering. Hence, the individual trunks are more distinct. This is a virtue for this palm because the trunks are unusually attractive. The trunks are tall, slender, very smooth bright to olive or even grayish green with widely spaced very distinct light gray or white rings of leaf scars. The frond is a feather type on a grayish green crownshaft. Flowers are yellow and the fruits are bright red.

Overall the Cabada Palm looks like the finest specimen Areca Palm, only better. Its looser appearance accentuates the bamboo-like trunk, the stiffer appearance of the fronds and the yellow flowers and bright red fruit. Cabada is a specimen palm for sure, but not as dense a screen as the Areca.

Cabada Palms grow in full sun, nevertheless, seedling palms grow best in some shade until they are 3' - 4' tall. Palms should be watered during periods of drought. Give them palm fertilizer 3 - 4 times per year.

Delivery is included in Broward, Miami-Dade, and southern Palm Beach Counties.
